Piece of My Heart appeared in 2006, and in 2007, Friend of the Devil reached Number One in the Sunday Times hardcover bestseller list. Two thugs are breaking into homes, and an old woman is dead, possibly murdered. This is a way for a company to inspire scholars to look at topics relevant to that organizations business.
He divides his time between Toronto and England. Two thugs are breaking into homes, and an old woman is dead, possibly murdered.
Gallows View - Complicating matters is his attraction to the psychologist brought in on the Peeping Tom case and the fact that his own wife has become one of the Peeper's targets. A Dedicated Man The second novel in the Inspector-Banks-series finds Banks investigating the death of a beloved local historian found buried in a wall.
The classic first novel in Peter Robinson's internationally bestselling series featuring Inspector Alan Banks--a must-read for fans of Louise Penny, Ian Rankin, and Elizabeth George. Former London policeman Alan Banks relocated to quiet Yorkshire seeking some small measure of peace. But as he soon learns, evil and violence are not unique to large cities. When an elderly woman is found brutally slain in her home in the quaint village of Eastvale, Chief Inspector Banks wonders if a local voyeur has crossed the line from menace to murderer. And before long, Banks finds himself caught in a web of increasingly deadly crimes--a net of danger that threatens his suddenly vulnerable personal life, forcing this dedicated law Gallows View: The First Inspector Banks Novel to make hard choices he'd dearly hoped would never be necessary. Haunting and harrowing, Gallows View is a powerful novel of suspense that will linger long in the mind. Boring, sexist drivel for a plot. Such tired cliches of men and women. There are many well written mystery novels out there with characters that are complex and challenging and interesting so I see no reason to waste my time with the tiresome Inspector Banks. It's a pity because I love a good English village police procedural, and one that deals with real issues too - but this book was not good.
